The Community Transport Program was developed to offset the issues with public transportation availability between the hours of 8:30 pm to 4:30 am. The current METRA bus System only runs during the hours of 4:30 am to 8:30 pm, Monday through Saturday; leaving those without transportation to get to and from work outside those hours. The system limits the means for reliable transportation for individuals who work outside of its schedule.
Soldiers on Ft. Moore base are also limited in their transportation needs in traveling on and off base. With Ft. Moore providing over 7,000 jobs, implementing a source of transportation that runs 24/7 as well as travels on and off base would open more efficient job opportunities for individuals in the community. This program will provide services to participants in the Pathway to Success and Pathway to Transformation programs.
Our initial startup will consists of eight 15-passenger vans.; allowing us to transport over 700 people per 24 hour period.
This program will help to created jobs in the community. We will hire up to 16 full-time and 4 part-time drivers to help keep our transportation schedule consistent and on track. Some of our program participants will be offered job opportunities with our organization if qualified when positions are available.
We hope to run this program through donations and funding from outside resources who also share our vision in creating more job opportunities for the people of the community.
