“Columbus has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes – from the smallest towns to the largest cities.” (Neighborhoodscout.com, 2023). There is an immediate need for programs that focus on the youth in the community. Neighborhood recreation centers are a thing of the past, leaving kids with no out-of-school positive environment. This causes them to turn to the streets, ultimately turning to crime. Columbus also has a history of star athletes getting through high school and not being able to pass college entry exams to get into college.
Our Youth Athlete Program focuses on working with students in any area of sports. This program piggybacks off the College Preparation and Workforce Development Program, but caters specifically to youth athletes that need the proper guidance to be successful in getting into prestigious colleges and universities and possessing the knowledge to sustain their lifestyles after their sports careers.
Our goal of this program is to ensure that no high school athlete lacks the resources needed to be successful after high school graduation.
We take a holistic approach to education, focusing not only on academic achievement but also on personal growth and development. Our educators work closely with students to help them develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in school and in life.
We provide awareness to students and families on available resources to increase the overall high school and college graduation rate of students in the community. Parents are provided counseling services to assist in making better decisions on their child's education and careers.
